For La Lettre du Continent, with his proposal for a revision of the constitution, Ali Bongo is following in the footsteps of his friend Faure Gnassingbé.

Ali Bongo’s proposal of a constitutional amendment would be similar to the one that ignited things in Togo. The objective in both cases is to increase the presidential prerogatives, while refusing any mention of term limits. In both countries, armies are controlled by those in power.

Ali Bongo and his Constitutional Court intend to impose this constitutional revision just before the 2018 legislative elections. We have already told you that Ali Bongo wants to offer a cohabitation to the opposition and this constitutional amendment allows him to strengthen his powers before this deadline.

Let's hope that like the Togolese people, the Gabonese will wake up.

Pour La Lettre du Continent, avec sa proposition de révision constitutionnelle, Ali Bongo se met sur les traces de son ami Faure Gnassingbé.

La proposition de révision constitutionnelle d’Ali Bongo serait similaire à celle qui a mis le feu aux poudres au Togo. L’objectif dans les deux cas étant d’accroitre les prérogatives présidentielles, tout en refusant toute mention de limitation de mandats. Dans les deux pays, les armées sont acquises aux pouvoirs.

Ali Bongo et sa Cour Constitutionnelle entendent imposer cette révision constitutionnelle juste avant les législatives 2018. Nous vous avions déjà dit qu’Ali Bongo veut offrir une cohabitation à l’opposition et cette révision constitutionnelle lui permet de renforcer ses pouvoirs avant cette échéance.

Espérons que comme le peuple Togolais, les Gabonais se réveilleront.
