IS ANOTHER POLITICAL PARTY THE SOLUTION? UN AUTRE PARTI POLITIQUE EST-IL LA SOLUTION?

English version

If Jean-François Ntoutoume-Emane’s defection undoubtedly comes as a crushing blow to the PDG, one wonders however how his decision to create yet another political party would help the cause of change in Gabon.

Although fundamentally we must respect the right of Mr. Ntoutoume-Emane to create his own political structure, it is questionable how useful are the many micro-parties that are swarming in Gabon, without ever being able to permanently shake the regime.

It is disconcerting to note that at this time in the opposition, instead of seriously prepare to lead the change, to remove Ali Bongo, they strife for things unimportant while the real goal should be the dismissal of Ali Bongo.

In this context, the proliferation of satellite parties with no real foundation, instead of instilling a reinforcement of the opposition, are making it heavy and often sow a confusion that is demobilizing.

No doubt that the party that Jean-François Ntoutoume-Emane intends to establish, will not be different from other existing similar parties; in the sense that it will be a party with a modest number of members and whose activities would revolve around a single personality: Jean-François Ntoutoume-Emane! Is this really useful?

If the objective is Ali Bongo’s removal, the actions of each other’s should demonstrate that. To apologize to the Gabonese people and create a political party is well and good; but it is not what will make Ali Bongo leave power. There is clearly a lack action. Defections are good, but action clearly aimed to break with the Bongo regime and push it out in the shortest possible time, is better.
