English version

Beginning this Monday, 24 August 2015, are held in Libreville, The National Democratic Sessions of the Civil Society; are invited, people of all backgrounds, who are worried and concerned about the condition and running of Gabon.

Because there is so much to say and dissect about Gabon, this blog would like to acknowledge this salutary initiative that provides a way to fuel the intellectual examination of the country’s situation. This initiative is also beneficial because we are aware that in Gabon, those in power have the tendency to ignore the cardinal values of our society, to deter and stifle citizen movements, to savagely persecute brave citizens who decide to make a difference. So we have to salute the organizers of this gathering.

We are already intellectually in the post Bongo era. It is now for Gabonese of goodwill to take a participatory approach allowing them to articulate the reconstruction of Gabon, following a path that goes beyond the mere reconstruction of physical infrastructure. It is about advocating a permanent reflection leading to structural and coordinated actions for the construction of a new Gabon based on the rule of law, the sharing or resources, solidarity, good education, respect for the environment and the common good.

Unlike the New York Forum Africa which we still do not know the utility or the benefits; this blog can consider the ongoing National Democratic Sessions as being:

1. A framework generator of ideas and policy options

2. A framework providing to a reservoir of Gabonese experts, the opportunity to educate the masses and thus circulate the right information.

3. A framework within which decision makers can discuss potential ideas and test new approaches.

4. An educational framework encompassing both the elites and citizens, helping to inform public debate.

As the philosopher once said, the opposite of a lie is as much the truth as it is silence; therefore, in a country where the only content of political speech wanted by the regime, asks that people be labeled treacherous when they decide to leave the PDG in power; that one be called bitter when they decide to take a critical look at the management of the country; it is important that those Gabonese who decide to stimulate intellectual activity be supported and encouraged.

That Ali Bongo likes it or not; the time for analysis is there, hot and without concessions. Those who identify with the Gabonese people and in the Gabonese nation cannot remain silent about the country's situation. The record of this regime is in fact clear.

The Bongo’s system has abandoned the Gabonese constitution by allowing only staged elections in which their victory would be guaranteed. The only reason for the existence of the government is for its members to grow rich off Gabon's natural resources, oil and minerals, while the people remain very poor. The regime offers neither adequate health care nor education to the people. The bulk of the population lives in great poverty while the Bongos and their friends live a wealthy lifestyle.

Thanks to such gatherings, one understands easily that those who think that the Gabonese do not want freedom are mistaken. This is now abundantly clear! The freedom of the Gabonese people is on the way; the liberation of the nation is humming, the end of governance by incoherence and stupidity, is near!
